The Uptown Dog opened its doors on September 2nd, 2006. Our inspirations were many--with our furbaby Liloo, we discovered a real need for a place where other like-minded pet owners could go to find the correct answers. We wanted to create a destination where one could find the right people to rely on for proper guidance, on various matters relating to not only proper nutrition, but also, training, safe boarding places, good veterinarians and more.

Every food product we carry goes through our strict screening criteria--if it is a questionable product--we refuse to carry it, period. How many others would be as strict?

Food Product Criteria

1. No generic proteins in the ingredients
2. No menadione (synthetic form of Vitamin K)
3. No proteins from China
4. Company must provide a complete analysis
5. Label must state at least 26% protein on a dry matter basis
6. No BHA/BHT/Ethoxyquin
7. Company must not own rendering plants
8. Company must answer questions thoroughly in a timely manner
