What's New at TUD?
by Vivian Lee

Welcome!

We are proud to finally be able to launch the inaugural edition of The Uptown Dog -- News from the Potty Post!  We are excited to offer this new "What's happening / What's new" service letter to all our valued customers who signed up to our subscription service for updates from us.

What is News from the Potty Post?

We hope this newsletter becomes a means of regular communication between TUD and you, allowing us to keep you informed through regular mailings of this newsletter (work load permitting), which will be filled with gems that are relevant for you towards your dog(s) and/or cat(s) well-being!

Features:

We hope future Potty Post newsletters will provide you with info on everything related to The Uptown Dog, the community around us, and the world at large with pets.

The Potty Post will feature facts and info on the general health and well-being of your pet(s).

Stay tuned for more exciting info in upcoming Potty Post newsletters.

Winter Weather!?!&#!:

Are you enjoying the recent snow lately?  Seems like as another day passes, another new snow bank forms(or grows higher) at the end of the driveway.

Remember it's important to protect your dog(s) paws!

-- Did You Know?: Cold, Salt and Ice are tough on your pooches soft pads, which can lead to painful cracks and possibly infections?   We recommend NuHemp Pawsitive Therapy Conditioning and Protection Stick to soothe and protect dog paws against the elements all year round. Made with 100% pure Canadian Hemp Seed Oil and all natural botanical & essential oils, it is easy to apply in its deodorant stick format!

The NuHemp Pawsitive Therapy Conditioning and Protection Stick was tested on our Liloo, and it works great!  Our sensitive princess pooch needs extra moisturising on her paw pads, otherwise they start cracking!

Extra Protection:

Want better protection? We highly recommend picking up a good set of "water-proof" dog boots. TUD has tried the many other brands/makes on the market and can vouch that only the Foufoudog brand booties (which Liloo actually loves wearing) actually DO STAY ON, AND DO NOT TWIST AROUND! The FouFou Dog booties are available in a variety of styles and sizes ranging from 0-5. For the larger pooch, there are the Doggy School booties available in sizes from 5 upto 8.

Drop in with your pooch for a free bootie fitting to protect their paws from the elements!

Featured Pet Heroes

Eckhart Tolle is all over the news these days for his book called "A New Earth".  Thanks to the, "Oprah Effect", it is now the most talked about book in all of internet history.  If you've been living in a cave and don't know about this book yet, get your butt over to amazon.ca and buy it!

As to how this subject applies to dogs...Eckhart Tolle, the author has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Maya!

Read the article that was published in the July 2007, Modern Dog Magazine issue.

Thank you Markham!:

It is a great honour and a privilege, to be recognized by so many wonderful people who understood our desire making their pooches our #1 priority while in our care at TUD! Thank you!

DID YOU KNOW:

With a high-quality shampoo (and matching conditioner) you can bathe your pooch at least once a week.

We recommend regular trips to the dog spa every 6-8 weeks. Book your furbaby's appointment soon!

Nutritional Tips:
Wheat isn't neccessarily a bad ingredient but, many dogs are allergic to wheat.  TUD carries mostly wheat-free brands of dog food & treats, and the majority of the brands we carry are actually grain-free!

We take great pride in screening all the food and treats we stock to guarantee you the following motto "NO Means KNOW":

- Not made in China

- Wheat-free foods

- Mostly wheat-free treats; those that are not wheat-free will be clearly marked

- Menadione-free (aka: Synthetic Vitamin K) food and treats

(What is menadione and why your dog should avoid it).

- No by-products, animal fat, poultry fat, propylene glycol, corn or wheat gluten, artificial colour, sweeteners, preservatives or digests.  We abide by the dogfoodproject principles.
